PSMINI Maryhill Run 2018

Here it is, one of the crown jewel events of the PSMINI driving season.  Join us on Saturday June 2nd, 2018 as we group up and head down the to what once was the first “modern paved road” in the Pacific Northwest, 3.6 miles of hill climbing heaven, Maryhill Loops Road. This is the one you’ve heard about. This is the one some members spend all year waiting for. It’s what your Mini wants to do deep down in its DNA. Don’t miss out on this year’s fabulous adventure; it’s a chance to get out with a group of your favorite cars, see some beautiful country, and explore one of the best roads you’ll ever drive. We rent the road, you make the memories.

IMPORTANT: This is a two day event with an overnight stay. It is open only to current PSMINI members in good standing only. Details for this year:

Day 1: We will be meeting at the Tacoma Mall Krispy Kreme located at 4302 Tacoma Mall Blvd, Tacoma, WA 98409. We will be aiming to begin our drivers meeting at 8:30 AM, with a planned departure at 9:00 AM. We will be heading down I-5 into Oregon initially, and making our way across historic roads and scenic by-ways to our stay in The Dalles.  We will also be making a group lunch stop together along this track, visiting Bumpers Grill and Bar.

New for this year, we will be preregistering and prepaying our meals. This will hopefully alleviate some of the slowdowns we saw last year when 35,000 individual tabs needs to be settled. Better for you, better for the restaurant; everyone wins. Registration and payment will be done through the official club webpage. The board will notify members when the registration period is open. Participating in these meals is completely optional, but I assure you, we’re good company

Once our group reaches The Dalles, members and co-pilots are on their own until dinner at 7pm at the Cousin’s Country Restaurant. This is the time where you can visit Stonehenge, Maryhill Winery, or the Maryhill Museum that's just 20 minutes away. Or just explore the The Dalles - they have some great wineries and breweries in town.

Day 2: Best practice is to depart early for the Maryhill start site. Plan to leave your hotel by 8:00AM. Our goal is get in as many runs for members as we safely can before we close the road for lunch and mid day safety checks around Noon. Once we reopen going into the afternoon, we will attempt to satisfy as many runs as possible before retiring for the day.

After the run’s conclusion, members are encouraged to plot their own route home. PSMINI would like to remind all members and co-pilots to pace themselves; a long day of intense driving in the sun and heat can leave you unexpectedly fatigued. Many elect to stay an extra day; members choosing to do so will need to make their own lodging arraignments. While Maryhill Loops Road will be closed to us at the conclusion of our event, there is still plenty to do and seeing in the region if you are in no rush to get back.

Accomodations:

PSMINI has a block of approx 20 rooms set up at the Cousin’s Country Inn.  The room rates are $99 for a single, and $109 for a double. This block is under the name “PSMINI”. Call 541-298-5161 or 1-800-848-9378 for bookings.  

The Cousin’s Country in is located at 2114 W 6th St, The Dalles, OR 97058.

If you are unable to secure a booking at that hotel, there are several others in the area you may choose from. You are on your own, however, for investigating rates and stays.

What to Bring: 
-$2 cash for Bridge of the Gods Toll Booth :) 
- Full tank of gas
- FRS Radio set to channel 7-21. We’ll help set your radio if you arrive early.
- Sunglasses (hopefully you'll need them)
- Sunscreen, a hat
- Water and/or snacks for the drive
-Portable shade (if it fits in your car)
